This is the quintessential ocean side Main St. with dozens of small shops and galleries. The buildings are true historic New England, there is plenty of free public parking and the entire area is walkable.
Perfect for a day trip or weekend getaway, the Martha’s Vineyard Fast Ferry is a scenic (and quick!) way to get to the island. Grabbing a sandwich from The Provisioner, take it to go, and eat on the sun deck – it doesn’t get much better than that!
Do you prefer your transportation to be self-powered? Kayaks and SUP purchases and rentals are available here and they offer amazing tours of the area. All that paddling is going to make you hungry!
With its authentically restored and furnished 1750 home, working gristmill, gardens, woodland trails, art exhibitions of period works, and more, the Gilbert Stuart Museum remains one of Rhode Island’s best kept treasures.
We’re not sure what’s more romantic than picking up some delicious eats from The Provisioner and taking your significant other out for a tour of Rhode Island’s finest harbors, lighthouses, and architecture. Views of Newport abound and tour guide and historian Arthur Strauss shouldn’t be missed.
